@bfcdublin The Bohemians Women's team made two changes to the starting line-up from the match that was abandoned last week, with Kerrie Deegan and Samantha Connolly coming in for Ann-Marie Moffatt and Sinead O'Kelly. The girls started well and could have gone in front early after Connolly found space inside the box but was closed down before she could shoot. Deegan sent over a cross which McLoughlin was unable to get on the end of. In the 16th minute, it was 1-0 to Bohs. A good ball from defence up to Nesbitt, who, after a touch towards the goal, was taken down just on the edge of the Raheny area. Up stepped McLoughlin to bend the ball around the wall and into the right-hand corner, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. Raheny tried to get back into the match and after Bohs cleared from a corner to the edge of the penalty area, a Raheny player shot first time and Hanna produced a very good save to tip the ball over the bar. Bohs got their deserved second goal on 35 minutes after a 15-pass move on the left side of the pitch, involving Creighton, Connolly, Nesbitt and Sinclair exchanging one-touch passes. The ball was then played back to Creighton, who sent over a cross to pick out McLoughlin, who turned and side-footed the ball past the keeper. This goal was Rachel McLoughlin's 50th goal for the team in 49 matches. However, three minutes later, Raheny got a goal back after their No 9 got away from the Bohs defence to beat Hanna from six yards. In the second half, Bohs looked like they would add to the score-line but it was not to be. Bohs sat back a little and caught Raheny on the counter-attack, creating some chances but the away keeper made a couple of saves and O'Kelly was unlucky not to score after beating the offside trap. Hanna didn't have much to do in the half as the back four of O'Brien, Carpenter, Cryan and Creighton were outstanding and didn't give Raheny many opportunities. Hurley was immense in midfield and along with Cryan, were probably Bohs' two best players on the night Bohemian WFC's next match is Wednesday 29th July at home to Leixlip United. BOHEMIANS: Hanna, O'Brien, Carpenter, Cryan, Creighton, Deegan (Moffatt), Nesbitt, Hurley, Sinclair, McLoughlin, Connolly (O'Kelly) . Not Used: Martin. REFEREE: Graham Caswell. |
