On Monday evening, while the lads' team played against Everton, the Bohs Womens' team continued their league programme with a 3-1 win over Peamount United. At a rain-drenched Ward Cross, the girls came from 1-0 down at half-time to take control in the second half and score three unanswered goals. Bohs could have been in front midway throught the first when Amy O'Connor had a 30-yard effort tipped over by the visiting keeper. The girls created some good chances but were unable to put them past the United netminder, who pulled off several good saves. Fifteen minutes before the break the visitors were in front. A hopeful ball across the Bohs penalty area wasn't cleared and an unmarked United player slammed the ball high past Hanna in the goal. Sinclair had the chance to pull Bohs level after being put though on goal but was pushed wide by the away defence and her shot cleared the crossbar. In the second half, Bohs started better and began to get some crosses into the box. From one of these, Bohs were awarded a corner. O'Connor swung the ball over and Cryan met the cross with a strong header which gave the United keeper no chance. Bohs were ahead after 65 minutes when Sinclair crossed from the right to Connolly who had her shot saved but Moffatt was first to the rebound to shoot past the keeper for her first goal for Bohs. Cryan and McLoughlin came close to getting the third goal with headers from more corners going just wide of the far post. In the 88th minute Bohs struck again. Great work in midfield by Moffatt taking the ball away from the Peamount centre-back and passing into the path of the overlapping Sinclair, who then ran 25 yards before side-footing the ball past the keeper into the righ-hand corner to wrap up a good result for Bohs in terrible conditions and without four players who are injured. BOHEMIANS: Hanna (capt), O'Brien, Cryan, Creighton, Cooney, Deegan, McLoughlin, O'Connor, Sinclair, Moffatt, O'Kelly. Subs: Connolly for O'Kelly, Martin for Creighton. Referee: Graham Caswell. |
