Bray Wanderers 0 - 2 Bohemian FC E-mail

Inspired by a scintillating performance by Killian Brennan, Bohemians got back to winning ways in the Airtricity League Premier Division as they heaped more misery on bottom of the table Bray.

The two-time defending champions dominated at the Carlisle Grounds against the struggling Seagulls. It means Pat Fenlon's men are now just three points behind leaders Dundalk, but have another match - against Wanderers - in hand. The most amazing stat was that the Wicklow side rode their luck as the Dubliner's spurned a series of opportunities to somehow only lead 1-0 at the interval.

The visitors flew out of the blocks. Former Wanderer Jason Byrne burst clear in the third minute; however, he was thwarted by Brian Kane. Byrne then set up Brennan off the rebound, but Daire Doyle made a superb goal-line block.

The Bray skipper turned from hero to villain in the 13th minute. Glenn Cronin fed Gareth McGlynn, while Mark Quigley flicked on the right wing cross. Byrne was positioned to swoop in the box, but Doyle nipped in - but only to divert the ball past Kane from ten-yards.

The visitors went close again in the 26th minute. After a corner was cleared, Brennan skipped to the end-line and dinked a cross to the back post, but the unmarked Byrne blazed over the cross-bar.

With the hosts 4-2-3-1 formation having very little threat, Bohs went close again in the 34th minute. Quigley shrugged off Shane O'Connor, but Kane was equal to the shot. Four minutes later, Byrne was just off target with a volley on the turn from 15-yards. The striker wasted another chance in the 42nd minute, steering Brennan's low-centre wide of the far stick. After Brian Murphy easily claimed Dane Massey's long range effort in the 43rd minute, the goalkeeper's quick clearance released Byrne. However, his lob was brilliantly tipped over by Kane. From Keegan's corner that followed, Ken Oman's towering header cannoned off the bar. Within moments, Quigley teed up the central defender whose low drive smacked off the foot of the upright.

The second half followed the same trend with the away team on top, but they failed to create many chances. Byrne just failed to get a touch Brennan's knockdown on the hour with the goal at his mercy. Then sub Paddy Madden almost made an instant impact. He got on the end of Byrne's cross, but scuffed wide just three minutes after entering the fray.

It wasn't until the 87th minute that the points were finally sealed. Brian Shelley boomed down the right flank and whipped in a cross. It was only headed clear to the waiting Brennan at the end of the box. The winger fired home a stunning half-low half-volley from 20-yards.
